P1 Preparation Course

The transition from Kindergarten to Primary 1 can be quite daunting for our young learners. The P1 Preparation Course is specifically designed to bridge the gap. With a specified focus on Primary 1 & 2 syllabi for English and Mathematics, the course aims to build a strong foundation in them gradually through the introduction of foundational creative writing and problem sum solving skills to expand both their English literacy and Higher Order Thinking.
English
Students learn to:
- Acquire the skills needed for planning and writing imaginative, grammatically correct, well written pieces of work (P1 Enhancer)
- Write creatively (P1 Enhancer)
Lessons will include:
- Comprehension – increasingly written rather than oral, including techniques on answering multiple choice questions
- Activities on Grammar/Punctuation/Parts of Speech
- Spelling
- Creative Writing – sentences, paragraphs, simple stories and poetry
Mathematics
Students learn to:
- Acquire skills to apply important mathematical concepts
- Apply relevant strategies for problem solving
Lessons will include:
- Challenging problem-solving questions
- Activities to develop higher order thinking skills
