Understanding Numbers, Not Just Counting

Pictures, number activities and everyday objects help your child explore what numbers mean.

From Counting to Understanding

Your child counts two groups of objects, compares which has more, and explains how they know. The teacher listens to their answer and guides another attempt when needed.

What a Maths Session Looks Like

Your child explores an idea, tries it with support and reviews it with the teacher. Activities are chosen to suit their current understanding.

1

Explore Together

The teacher introduces an idea using objects, pictures or number activities.

2

Try With Support

Your child counts, compares or solves a problem while the teacher guides the practice.

3

Review the Learning

The teacher checks your child's understanding and identifies what to practise next.

Maths Skills We Practise

Common Questions

Practical information about online maths lessons.

What age is this programme designed for?+

Our Maths Programme for Ages 4–8 covers preschool and early-primary foundations. The teacher adjusts the pace and activities based on how your child responds.

Is this a live class or pre-recorded?+

Always live. A real PLA teacher runs every session in real time. Live lessons allow the teacher to respond when your child needs help.

How long is each lesson?+

Each online maths lesson is 30 minutes and conducted live, 1-to-1 with a teacher.

Can we try the lessons before continuing?+

Yes. See the four-session paid trial details above, or ask our team for current fees and available lesson times.

My child still needs help counting. Is this suitable?+

Tell us what your child can do now and where they need help. The complimentary Math Diagnostic Test helps us discuss a suitable starting point before you decide to try lessons. You do not need to teach the next topic first.

How does this prepare my child for Primary 1 maths?+

Children practise foundational skills such as counting, comparing quantities, addition and subtraction, and explaining their answers. These skills give them a foundation to build on as they meet new maths tasks in primary school.
